Originally designed and built to order, three units have now been produced.
Based on the design of our own Beaver Cartoner, this machine was scaled up and strengthened to handle a large, heavy product.
Specifically, the product was a roll of film wound on a core, in two sizes up to 750mm long x 315mm dia, the second size being shorter and slightly smaller in diameter.
Typical weight of the product roll was around 27kg.
Due to the weight of the product a special manual mechanical lift-and-slide device with power assist was incorporated to load the product into the pre-opened carton. The cartons themselves, rather larger than usual, were made in 'B' flute corrugated.
Similar in function to our Beaver, the carton was picked from a magazine and presented 'open' ready for manual filling with the product.
Using the mechanical device the machine operator could easily lift the film roll and have it supported during insertion to the waiting carton.
Following the fill, the machine cycle continued, in turn glueing and closing the carton flaps, ejection to a roller table and finally presenting the next carton 'open' ready for filling.
